World Community Day at Shaw Temple AME Zion Church in Smyrna, Georgia

On December 9, 2023, the Atlanta and Cobb Units of Church Women United celebrated World Community Day at Shaw Temple AME Zion Church in Smyrna, Georgia. Over 80 women dressed in red came out to celebrate the theme Living a Legacy of Love Doing God’s WorkLabor With Love: Hands to Help which focused on health and wellness opportunities.

Community leaders speaking on the topic included

  • Dr. Freda Mask Jackson, researcher from Save 100 Babies;
  • Mr. Myron Fontaine, The Prison Doctor;
  • Ms. Melanie Kagan from the Family Resource Center in Cobb County;
  • Mr Tim Robnson, Man in the Mirror; and
  • Minister Donna Meredith, Christians in Action of Greater Deliverance Baptist Church.

All in attendance were inspired by the speakers to continue the work of Church Women United in advocacy, activism and collaboration.
