Georgia Turns Blue as Democrats Flip Several Seats
Democrat Keisha Lance Bottoms becomes Georgia’s first Black female governor and first Black female governor of any state in the United States.
Lance Bottoms is former mayor of the City of Atlanta, Georgia, 2018 – 2022. She also served as senior advisor to the President of the United States and Director of the Office of Public Engagement, 2022 – 2023, under President Joe Biden.
Lance Bottoms defeats Republican challenger and billionaire businessman Rick Jackson, who is said to have allegedly spent 200 million dollars of his own money for his gubernatorial campaign. Jackson is founder and CEO of Jackson Healthcare, a healthcare staffing and services company in Alpharetta, Georgia.
Josh McLaurin wins the position of Georgia Lieutenant Governor.
Jon Ossoff wins as incumbent for his Georgia Senator seat.
Tanya Miller wins the race for Georgia Attorney General.
Judge Penny Brown Reynolds wins the race for Georgia Secretary of State.
All Democrats vowing for a better metro Atlanta and a better Georgia.
Since several top positions across the country have either maintained Democrat leadership or flipped to Democrat, it is a prevalent thought to blame [or thank] Trump’s administration because voters want changes in policies, hating perceived political corruption, rhetoric and communication gaps, foreign wars, and high gas and food prices. Many are saying that this blue wave is the beginning of the end of Trump.
Lance Bottoms delivered a historic victory speech after winning the 2026 Georgia gubernatorial race at the Marriott Marquis in Atlanta.
In her speech, she said,
“This win is for the caregiver who can’t afford healthcare and needs Georgia to finally expand Medicaid. It is for the entrepreneur who is seeking to grow her small business. This win is for the farmer who is trying to hold on to his family land. It is for the teacher who’s working two jobs so that they can educate our children. And this win is for the child who deserves every opportunity to succeed. Georgia, this win is for all of us. Thank you, Georgia. I am honored to be your 84th governor.”
