White House Initiative 2024 – 2025 HBCU Scholar – Morris Brown College’s Devon J. Ezell

Congratulations to Mr. Devon J. Ezell In receiving the prestigious honor of the White House Initiative 2024 – 2025 HBCU Scholar.

The White House Initiative on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence, and Economic Opportunity through Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) is proud to announce the 2024 cohort of HBCU Scholars, marking the tenth anniversary of this transformative program. This year, 110 outstanding students from 77 HBCUs across the nation have been selected for their exceptional academic achievements, leadership potential, and dedication to their communities.

Devon is a junior at Morris Brown College, majoring in Organizational Management and Leadership. He hails from Toledo, Ohio. As a distinguished 2024-2025 HBCU Scholar recognized by the U. S. Department of Education, Devon has demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to service. His impressive résumé includes participation in the 2024 PROPEL Pioneering Health Accelerator with Apple, serving two terms on the Student Government Association as chaplain and treasurer, and competing three times with the Morris Brown College HBCU Battle of Brains Team. Additionally, he has held the role of vice president in the Clark Atlanta University Stock Trading Club. Devon plans to attend law school post-graduation to further his efforts in driving positive change within his community.

Devin is also an avid follower of Jesus Christ, a talented photographer, and a first-generation college student. His achievements, including his work-study role and other honors, will be celebrated next week in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, alongside Dr. Toneyce Randolph, provost and senior vice president of Academic Affairs and Mrs. Devonne McKenzie, director of Campus Life and Student Retention at the 2024 Annual National HBCU Week Conference. The U. S. Department of Education’s HBCU Scholar Recognition Program, which supports the brightest and most service-oriented minds from HBCUs, has empowered over 500 students in the past decade, offering them valuable opportunities for growth, mentorship, and networking.
