U.S. Ambassador Andrew Young Celebrates 90th Birthday – Parade and Unveiling of Statue

It was a beautiful day in Atlanta, Georgia on March 10, 2022.  The perfect day for a special 90th birthday celebration for U.S. Ambassador Andrew Young. The day started off with a well attended ”Birthday Parade” in downtown Atlanta that ended up in Vine City at the Rodney Cook Peace Park.

The park is about two blocks from Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s home on Sunset Avenue. There was a special statue unveiling and before the unveiling, Ambassador Young amused the crowd when he said that “When we dedicated a statue to Congressman John Lewis, he passed away about two weeks later.” He went on to say that he had no plans to do anything like that. His address was centered around peace and love and in his typical style, his tone was one that always bragged about Atlanta.
