Sending Joy from One Senior to Another

Braxton Chadwick, a senior at King’s Ridge Christian School in Alpharetta Georgia, started the “Bloom to a Room” campaign.

His grandmother is currently in an assisted living community where they are confined to their room and are not allowed outside visitors due to COVID-19. His grandfather’s family runs a wholesale greenhouse where the seasonal plant orders have been canceled due to the pandemic and thousands of plants are going to waste. A family member sent a plant with his grandmother’s grocery order, and her reaction sparked an idea. That’s how “Bloom to a Room” originated. A simple Facebook post allowed the community to start purchasing flowers.

Once Braxton receives enough orders to provide each room in a particular senior community with a seasonal flower he delivers them to an exterior door. The flowers are then distributed to the residents to bring a little bit of the outdoors inside providing joy. More and more senior communities are requesting delivery as Brandi Bryant concierge at Sunrise Senior living stated, “Our residents are now quarantined and it’s causing a lot of anxiety.” You can visit bloomtoaroom.com to help Braxton meet his goal of getting flowers to 2,500 rooms.
