Music Icon John Legend To Headline The Annual Event August 24, 2023 at The Georgia World Congress Center
Atlanta, Georgia – The Same House, a new community services movement launched in January to help bridge societal divisions and improve economic mobility for the underprivileged, today announced that The Home Depot CEO Ted Decker and his wife, Cathy, Georgia Power CEO Kim Greene and her husband, Ted, and Chick-fil-A, Inc. President Tim Tassopoulos and his wife, Maria, will serve as the “Presenting Honorees” of the 2023 Beloved Benefit.
Co-chairs for the annual event, which will be held at the Georgia World Congress Center August 24 and will feature music icon John Legend, are Peach Bowl Inc. CEO Gary Stokan and his wife, Tia, and Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation President Fay Twersky and her wife, Jill Blair. The annual “come as you are” gathering brings together a cross-section of Atlantans from all walks of life who sit together at family-style tables to enjoy a meal, fellowship and high-energy performances.
“We are thrilled to have some of Atlanta’s outstanding corporate civic leaders take the reins of the 2023 Beloved Benefit,” said The Same House CEO Rodney Bullard. “All of these organizations have been strong supporters of the Beloved Benefit and their leaders well known for investing time and talents to community organizations across the city and state.”
The funds raised will be distributed to 2023 Beloved Benefit “Beneficiaries,” including Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta, Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs, First Step Staffing, Urban League of Greater Atlanta and Westside Future Fund. Additional nonprofit Beneficiaries will be announced in coming months. Since its founding in 2019, this one-of-a-kind experience has raised more than $12 million for a wide range of Atlanta nonprofit organizations focused on addressing community priorities.
This year’s presenting sponsors to date are Chick-fil-A, Inc., The Home Depot Foundation and Georgia Power. Lead sponsors to date include: the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, Peach Bowl Inc., Delta Air Lines, Truist, UPS and WestRock, among many additional sponsors.
The Beloved Benefit is based on the idea of the Beloved Community amplified by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and born out of respect for inclusivity and collaboration of all Atlantans. The event brings together business leaders, nonprofits and community members to not only learn about each other but also build a foundation for future work together.
Since its inception, funds raised from Beloved Benefit have been used to serve more than 80,000 individuals, nearly half of whom are under the age of 24. A number of well-known musical artists have performed at the event including Usher and Maroon 5.
Earlier this year, organizers of the Beloved Benefit announced a new organization, The Same House, that will include the annual experience as well as a number of new initiatives. During the 2019 Beloved Benefit, the late Congressman John Lewis told the audience, “we all live in the same house,” inspiring the organization’s name.
