Gammon Theological Seminary and President-Dean Reverend Dr. Candace M. Lewis

On May 7, 2022, Gammon Theological Seminary President-Dean, Reverend Dr. Candace M. Lewis proudly stands with some of her graduating seniors (of the Class of 2022) and makes history!

President-Dean Lewis is the first woman to serve as Gammon’s president in the school’s 139-year history! This is her first graduating class.


ABOUT Gammon Theological Seminary
Located in Atlanta, GA, Gammon Theological Seminary is the United Methodist constituent member of the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC), a consortium of six historically African American theological schools. Gammon at the ITC is a co-educational, professional graduate school of theology. Its faculty personifies vigorous scholarship, rigorous academic discipline, and significant research in the service of the church and other communities in the world. Gammon at the ITC is the world’s premier resource for Black church scholarship and faith-based solutions to the spiritual and socio-economic challenges confronting not only the African American community but the world as a whole.
THE SCHOOL OF THE PROPHETS

Gammon/ITC offers the following degree programs: the Master of Divinity (M.Div.), the Master of Arts in Religion and Education (M.A.R.E.), the Master of Arts in Liturgical Arts and Culture (M.A.L.C.), and the Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.). There are also a number of dual degree programs offered in cooperation with seminaries and schools in the Atlanta Theological Association. Admission is open to qualified women and men of the United Methodist Church. Gammon/ITC students exemplify and preserve a proud tradition. As public theologians they are taught to think independently and communicate effectively. Students are challenged to become involved in finding solutions to problems that affect the human condition, and to become active in the community beyond this campus. Graduates of this institution are encouraged to maintain a lifelong desire for intellectual growth, spiritual development, and the acquisition of skills for the practice of ministry.
