Atlanta – The Atlanta (GA) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated will offer free dental screenings, education, and referrals for attendees at the 8th Annual Halloween Trunk or Treat sponsored by Imhotep Academy. It will take place on Sunday, October 30 from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm at the Cascade Driving Range, at 3580 Cascade Road, Atlanta, Georgia 30331. Children and adults are welcome to participate in this event, which is free and open to the public.
“Imhotep Academy is a great community partner and we’re expecting a record turn-out,” said Kimberly E. Beal, DMD, MS, Co-Chair of the Atlanta (GA) Chapter of the Links’ Smart MOUTH! program. The Smart M.O.U.T.H. program promotes access to oral healthcare for local families and children with the mantra is, “My Oral health Upholds Total Health!”
“Coming out of the pandemic, it’s really important to get back on schedule with regular oral health care,” said Dr. Beal. “We want to reduce barriers that may exist for families in SW Atlanta to receive dental car,” she continued. The organization has partnered with Colgate and Family and Children’s Dentistry & Orthodontics to provide the free dental screenings.
In light of increased focus on the growing mental health needs of our community, The Atlanta (GA) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated will also provide mental health resources and a questionnaire to screen for depression. Tenaya Watson, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist and chapter member, will be on hand to distribute the questionnaires and resources for additional care. This initiative is part of the Atlanta (GA) Chapter of the Links’ program, COPE – Creating Opportunities for Personal Enrichment, which has a focus on mental health.
