Forest Park Celebrates Official Opening of Kroger Customer Fulfillment Center

Forest Park, GA – February 2, 2022 – On February 2, 2022, Forest Park joined in celebrating the official opening of the Kroger Customer Fulfillment Center powered by Ocado Group, a world leader in technology for grocery e-commerce. Located at the Gillem Logistics Center in Forest Park, Georgia, the Fulfillment Center is one of three in the Nation that provides e-commerce delivery service of grocery items and fresh food.

Mayor Angelyne Butler, MPA, expressed gratitude to the Kroger Corporation for selecting the City of Forest Park as the location for the newest Customer Fulfillment Center and presented a proclamation to commemorate the event. “The City of Forest Park’s commitment to economic development has provided the infrastructure needed for Kroger to deliver fresh food and produce throughout the region,” said David Matthews, General Manager of the Forest Park facility. “With the completion of the Rateree Road project, our delivery vans have better access to Forest Parkway, I-75, and I-285, which allows us to deliver to our customers within a 90-minute radius of this facility.”

Kroger’s innovative grocery e-commerce model creates a unique customer experience, providing customers with the opportunity to have fresh food, refrigerated and frozen items, household essentials, and other supplies delivered for a small monthly or annual fee. Bill Bennett, Kroger Vice-President and Head of E-Commerce, emphasized the favorable customer feedback Kroger has received by local customers, including a “best-in-class Net Promoter Score.”

“With direct access to three interstate highways, an international airport and railways, our city has become a strategic partner that supports large-scale commerce and growing industries,” said Mayor Butler, MPA. “This type of economic development progress only helps to strengthen our message that it is a new day in Forest Park. We trust that our public-private partnership with Kroger will help pave the way for more high-wage jobs and serve as an investment toward our goal of creating an even more robust business climate.”

Kroger’s Fulfillment center in Forest Park, which currently employees more than 250 associates, is expected to generate over 400 total jobs for the area. As Kroger has partnered with Ocado to introduce proprietary technology solutions designed to streamline fulfillment and delivery services, many of the career opportunities available focus on technology, operations, supply chain, and transportation.
