In my opinion, Donald Trump came to the debate on September 10, 2024 with his ego, his almost 80 years of presumptuous supremacy, privilege, life-long entitlements and known or unknown racism. Racism is almost incurable. It is a flawed human malady that is profitable and powerful. It takes control of a large part of American theology, sociology, politics, economics, art, literature and education. Surrounded, invested and funded with all the above. Trump did not feel the need for any serious preparation or dedication to truth. After all, he feels that he can “shoot somebody on 5th Avenue and not lose a single vote.” [Trump’s words].
All the above have given him a billionaire life-style and elected him president for one term of the most powerful nation in the world. So, he came to the debate with arrogance and overflowing falsehoods.
Vice President Kamala Harris came to the debate with life-long preparation, struggle and excellence. She came with dignity, power and moral purpose.
The Vice President and Governor Tim Walz represent the personification of what it takes to keep our democracy alive at home and enhanced around the world.
Vice President Harris is a great alumna of Howard University and the University of California College of Law. Governor Walz earned a Master of Science degree from Minnesota State University and his undergraduate degree from Chardon State College. His 24-year career in military service, teaching, coaching and his public service as an elected official equip him to be our next Vice President.
Vice President Harris has been on a path of achievement and greatness throughout her life’s journey. “Nobody told her the road would be easy.”
Throughout Vice President Kamala Harris’s amazing journey, she has marched in harmony with our great anthem:
“God of our weary years,
God of our silent tears,
Thou Who has brought us thus far on the way;
Thou Who has by Thy might,
Led us into the light,
Keep us forever in the path, We pray.”
On Vice President Harris’ journey to the presidency, we must march to the polls and vote for her, paraphrasing that great hymn:
“America, America,
God shed God’s grace on thee.
And crown thy good
With sisterhood,
And brotherhood,
And childhood love,
From earth to sky
And sea to shining sea.”
Vice President Harris and Governor Walz, you are not alone. We are with you. Faith, hope, love and democracy are with you. You are surrounded by “a great cloud of witnesses.” They stand beside you in “harmony and melody.” While your opponent stood fuming and fumbling in an “ill-harmonizing and unmelodious,” incoherent, unhuman predicament.
Vice President Harris, you are not alone. Democracy, human rights, human dignity, love, justice, faith, hope and liberation stand, walk and run with you! We vote with you and for you.
