Team Hooters’ Hope Is Back In Support of the More Than Pink Walk

TEAM HOOTERS’ HOPE IS BACK!!

As one of the top fundraising teams of the 2023 Georgia More Than Pink Walk, Team Hooters’ Hope is back to help fight for the lives of those forever changed by breast cancer. Our small but mighty 2023 team raised $5,600.00, and this year armed with more team members and the same dedicated spirit, we are aiming to raise even more money.

Atlanta’s Alecia Robinson formed Hooters’ Hope because she wanted her family and friends to join her in directly helping those who find their lives upended by a breast cancer diagnosis. That was Alecia in April of 2022, faced with a life paused and a breast cancer fight in front of her. The weeks and months that followed were both physically and emotionally the hardest and most draining times of her life. she’d have a double mastectomy, six rounds of chemotherapy, and one year of medication infusions. Greatly weakened by treatment and unable to work, the Susan G. Komen organization stepped in to help her with financial assistance. It is just one of the many ways the work of Komen helps those battling a breast cancer diagnosis.

Hooters’ Hope is also here to help Komen raise money for breast cancer research. Among other things, Alecia’s breast cancer was HER2+, one of the more aggressive forms of breast cancer. In the not-so-distant past, a HER2+ breast cancer diagnosis could be a death sentence, but research and the development of new medications has changed that narrative. She is a survivor today because these medications exist.

Finally, each time she steps out with her team to raise funds to help those who fight breast cancer, she holds in her heart two family members who walked this path before her. Her mother, Ann Robinson, was a warrior and survivor during her lifetime, and her aunt, Vivian Roberts, another warrior, valiantly fought breast cancer for three years. Alecia doesn’t want anyone to lose someone they love to breast cancer like her family did. “I hold on to hope that a cure will be found, and until then, I will fight in every way that I can to move the journey toward a cure forward,” Alecia adds.

Please join Alecia and her Hooters’ Hope teammates in supporting this fight by making a donation. Your support truly makes a difference.

What is the MORE THAN PINK Walk?
The MORE THAN PINK Walk, Susan G. Komen’s largest fundraising event series, evolved from the Race for the Cure in 2018. Each year, we host over 100,000 participants at our 40+ in-person (and one virtual) walks across the U.S. Since the first Walk in 2018, our participants have raised more than $60 million dollars and continue to be a part of a community committed to our vision of a world without breast cancer.

With inclusive and accessible options for people of all ages and abilities – including breast cancer survivors, those currently in treatment for breast cancer and people living with metastatic breast cancer – the Walk provides participants the opportunity to come together and connect in meaningful ways. It allows us to focus on sharing our passion, sharing our stories and connecting with others, all while fundraising to support life-saving programs and research.

Our finish line is a world without breast cancer, and we know the only way we can get there is together.

What does it mean to be “More Than Pink”?
For too long, pink has been connected to breast cancer awareness. However, people impacted by breast cancer need more than awareness; they need access to treatment, emotional support and so much more. It will take more than pink to help achieve our vision of a world without breast cancer.

It’s more than a pink-themed costume, wig or pink ribbon at a fundraising event and it’s more than one month a year. Together, we are More Than Pink: passionate and supportive people dedicated to supporting those who need help today while tirelessly searching for tomorrow’s cures.
