Founded by actress and activist Jane Fonda in 1995, the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power and Potential (GCAPP) is thrilled to announce award-winning actor and cultural icon Larenz Tate as a special guest during the Second Annual Rising Leaders Luncheon. The event will take place Friday, June 6, at Cox Enterprises in Atlanta, GA. Held in front of an audience of educators, changemakers, community members and youth leaders, this year’s luncheon holds special significance as it marks GCAPP’s 30th anniversary of championing the health and success of youth across Georgia.
Known for his iconic performances in movies like Love Jones, Menace II Society, Dead Presidents, and STARZ’s Power franchise, Tate is also a passionate advocate for youth development and community empowerment. As a special guest, he will help GCAPP celebrate 30 years of advocacy, while honoring the achievements of young people ages 14-24 from across the state of Georgia.
“This year, the GCAPP celebrates three decades of empowering our youth,” said Dr. Ronald McNeill, president and CEO, GCAPP. “The Rising Leaders Luncheon allows us to elevate the voices of young changemakers across Georgia. It’s more than an annual event—it’s a powerful reminder of what’s possible when we support our young people through purpose and partnership.”
During the luncheon, GCAPP will honor youth leaders and community movers and shakers through recognitions, including:
- Induction of new class of Youth Advisory Council members
- Recognition of outgoing Council members
- Presentation of the Youth Ambassador of the Year Award
- Announcement of the Adult Ally Award recipient
Since its founding in 1995, GCAPP has become a driving force in youth advocacy, offering essential programs in youth development, health education, physical activity, nutrition and parental engagement. As part of its Impact 2025 campaign, GCAPP has been committed to enabling their partners to empower a minimum of 360,000 adolescents to make healthy life choices on their path to becoming productive citizens, community members, and leaders. To date, through the support of GCAPP, that total has already surpassed the December 2025 deadline by more than 50%.
