Richard W. Wills, Sr. Resigns as Senior Pastor of Friendship Baptist Church of Atlanta, Georgia

Dr. Richard W. Wills, Sr. has served as senior pastor at Friendship Baptist Church of Atlanta since 2015. For 5 1/2 years, he invested strength and leadership into the role of helping to foster a vibrant church with a global impact. With much prayer and counsel, Dr. Wills decided that this chapter of pastoral leadership has drawn to a close. He relocates to focus on the immediate needs of his family. On Sunday, September 5, 2021, he will preach his final sermon as Pastor of Friendship Baptist Church. His mutual regard for his church family has been expressed to the congregation and its leadership.

“We are family, and we will always be a part of this movement. While this decision may feel odd and unexpected, there is a deep sense of peace. We are anchored in hope and believe that the best is yet to come for the future of Friendship,” said Dr. Wills.”

Pastor Wills will continue to serve until Sunday, September 5, 2021. He will work closely with Friendship’s leadership team to ensure a smooth transition. The church Deacon and Trustee Boards will provide an interim plan shortly and take time with the Lord and one another concerning a long-term strategy.
