Wife of Atlanta’s First Black Chief Judge of Magistrate Court Passes Away
October 12, 2022 – Jeanne Hairston of Terrell, Texas, and former employee of Atlanta’s formerly known C&S Bank, passed quietly from natural causes on October 10.
Mrs. Hairston, wife of one of Atlanta’s revered attorneys, now Minister Andrew J. Hairston, will lay in state on Tuesday, October 18, 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, with final services to be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, October 19, each at Simpson Street Church of Christ, 800 Joseph E. Boone Boulevard, NW, Atlanta, Georgia 30314.
Viewing begins at noon. No repast is scheduled. Interment will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive, Canton, Georgia 30114.
Attorney Andrew J. Hairston was Atlanta’s first Black Chief Judge of Magistrate Court and City Solicitor for the City of Atlanta. Hairston also served as former attorney for Reverend Martin Luther King, Sr.
Mrs. Hairston leaves to mourn four children, Kenneth Hairston of Huntsville, Alabama, Karen Hairston of Atlanta, Georgia, Kerri Hairston Rucker of Lithia Springs, Georgia, and Kolan Hairston, of Los Angeles, California and five grandchildren.
