10:30 am - 11:00 am
Atlanta fitness instructor Stephanie “Boom Shock” Jones will be featured at 10:30 AM EDT on Wednesday, May 13, on the brand new, free platform by women for women, Girls Nite In Online (gnionline.com). Stephanie is a personal trainer and diabetes prevention lifestyle coach who has worked with the Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority, Spelman College, Kaiser Permanente, and the Center for Black Women’s Wellness to “help the everyday person figure out how to become better on their fitness journey.” She will be teaching a Virtual Dance Party with a series of cardio dance aerobics routines.
Stephanie’s proceeds will be donated to the Charge Up Campaign, which focuses on the importance of reducing mental health challenges that arise due to social, economic and health concerns.
Fitness instructors, chefs, stylists, hairdressers, makeup artists, and many others are invited to register at Girls Nite In Online (gnionline.com), present a 30-minute workout or workshop on Zoom, and earn some income during this difficult period through viewer donations to Venmo’s “Virtual Tip Jar.” GNI takes no fees from viewer donations to presenters.
Coming up May 11-15, in addition to Stephanie Jones, Girls Nite In Online (gnionline.com), is featuring, among many other workouts and workshops, celebrity makeup artist Jamie Greenberg, puppeteer Christine Barger, who will instruct viewers in the basics of ventriloquism, and mixologists Lauren Paylor and Alex Jump for Friday “Happy Hour,” who are raising money for Focus on Hope, which provides various forms of support for hospitality professionals.
The Girls Nite In website features supportive video shoutouts from cooking show host Paula Deen, actress and author Tori Spelling, actress Alysia Reiner and basketball star Lisa Leslie, who applaud the effort to help talented women, who are currently unemployed or suffering a drop in income, share their skills with a wider audience and earn some income. Cyndi Lauper also gave a shoutout to GNI on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/officialcyndilauper/
Fitness classes presented at Girls Nite In Online have ranged from pilates, yoga, kickboxing, and strengthening and conditioning to barre and belly dancing. Workouts are presented in the morning from 7:30 to 8 AM, and 10:30 to 11 EDT. Other workshops, featuring prominent stylists, chefs, artists, life and business coaches, etc., are presented in the afternoon, usually from 4 to 4:30 EDT according to the following, very general schedule:
Monday – Makeovers
Tuesday – Food
Wednesday – Arts and More
Thursday – Mindfulness
Friday – Happy Hour!
“This is a win-win for women,” says Shelly Fisher, founder of GNI and head of the PIF Group. “When we support each other, we succeed, no matter how hard the times. Women at home are hungry for community, education and entertainment. They love the idea of supporting our presenters with their donations!”
Interested potential presenters are encouraged to visit gnionline.com, register and submit a video in which they describe themselves and their proposed workshop. No elaborate video equipment is required. A presenter can even just have a friend hold a cell phone to transmit the workshop through Zoom.
