An exhibition of the photo-based works of artist, Tokie Rome-Taylor at The Wren’s Nest.
“One Day Soon Come” is Rome-Taylor’s artistic interpretation and celebration of children, and particularly African Americans of the south. The work puts them at the center, to see their connections, cultural richness, and belonging within history. Come out this holiday season to celebrate family, history, and identity by taking in the artworks of Atlanta-native, Tokie Rome-Taylor. Rome-Taylor is a photo-based artist and educator whose work focuses on the notion that perception of self and belonging within a society is formed in childhood. She creates photographs of Georgia’s African American children that re-examine history, identity, and tradition. Her works represent a visual elevation of Black children that had been omitted from mainstream “western art history.”
This exhibition is sponsored through the generous support of Fulton County Arts and Culture, The Wren’s Nest Museum, and Preserve Black Atlanta.
