Reverend Dr. Willie T. Edmondson, LaGrange’s First Black Mayor, Dies January 24, 1954 – February 16, 2024 LaGrange, Georgia’s first Black mayor, Reverend Dr. Willie T. Edmondson, died on Friday, February 16, 2024. He had just taken office as mayor, less than a year ago, on March 27, 2023. He had more than 30 years of spiritual and civic leadership.
