Atlanta Falcons Fire Head Coach and General Manager

Even though they were victorious after a win against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, January 4, 2025, the Atlanta Falcons fire head coach Raheem Morris and general manager Terry Fontenot.

The Falcons finished their regular season with a win over the Saints, 19-to-17, in Atlanta, Georgia, with a record of 8 wins and 9 losses. The win helped to promote the Carolina Panthers to the NFL playoffs for the NFC South.

The same day, fired head coach Raheem Morris and general manager Terry Fontenot.

Morris had been the head coach for two seasons and led the team to a 16-18 overall record. Many have thought that a four-game winning streak at the end of the season was enough to retain coach Morris.

Fontenot had been general manager for five seasons.

This comes as Falcons fans have continued to voice their dissatisfaction in the team performance and lack of playoff appearances.

Falcons owner Arthur Blank believed it was time for “new leadership” in both roles and the organization will begin its search immediately.

There have been rumors that former Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan might be interested in an executive position in football operations with the Falcons. Matt Ryan (“Matty Ice”) was quarterback with the Falcons from 2008 to 2021.
